Starlight Children's Foundation

Today I attended a brunch to raise money for the Starlight Children's Foundation. The America's Miss Organization is committed to helping children by being a supporter of the Starlight Children's Foundation. Today we raised funds in order to purchase a portable Wii Station for a local hospital. The Wii Stations (which has a computer/monitor/and Wii station games) are used to divert a child'...s attention while enduring painful treatments during hospital stays and / or visits. This event was hosted by Evelyn McLeod ( Mrs. New Jersey America's Mrs) and was held in Sea Bright New Jersey.

Mrs. New Jersey United States Pageant 2010

I spent the day with some wonderful friends in support of the Mrs. New Jersey United States Organization. The Mrs. New Jersey United States Organization is very special to me, they are responsible for many special friendships. In 2006, I entered my very 1st pageant, the Mrs. new jersey united States pageant. That year I met 5 ladies who today are very special friends of mine. I never would have imagined that i would walk away with that special of a prize package but I did!! I walked away with life long friendships and I thank my lucky stars that i decided to enter that pageant. Michelle and Chris are very supportive directors, I wish you a successful year. Congratulations to the new Mrs. New Jersey US, best wishes to you Claire!

My community service is on StarSmilez blog!

A special thanks to StarSmilez for placing my community service on their Children's Oral health Blog. This is exciting to me because my peers will view this blog. I hope I can inspire others to give back to the community and bring children's oral health education back to the classroom.

Voorhees Middle School Career Fair

On May 14th I volunteered for my first career fair. I will admit, I was a little unprepared for the event, this being my first. It was a full days event and I had the opportunity to speak with the children about the profession of Dental Hygiene. Some of the professionals who volunteered were Engineers, Actuary, Registered Nurse, Psychiatrist, Police Officer, Fire Fighter, chef, Artist, and an entertainment crew. It was very nice meeting everyone and I will now know how to prepare myself for the next career fair.
